SUSTAINABLE TOURISM
We at Walk Andalucia are committed to making a positive contribution to conservation and the economies of our local community while minimising any negative impacts of tourism. We believe that, in an area where the local community is dependent on tourism to survive, small scale rural tour companies like Walk Andalucia are the way forward. We try to bring benefits to our community with a wide range of environmental measures that include local purchasing for food, drink and other services.
Money earned is ploughed back into restoring and maintaining our maintaining village houses. Our guides are steeped in local knowledge and are able to show people how not to disturb local flora & fauna.
We only use recognised footpaths to minimize damage to the local environment and in our literature and on our website we seek to raise awareness of the fragility of the environment.

EL RUBIO
As those of you who have been before will know, no visit to Torrox is complete without a visit to El Rubio Restaurant & Bar where you will always find delicious fish, fresh vegetables and a friendly atmosphere.
Because Andalucia is one of the major avocado growing areas in Europe and the Junta of Andalucia is keen to encourage us to eat more avocados, here is Paco's recipe for Avocado & Cucumber Soup.

NEW WALKS FOR SOLO TRAVELLERS
For those of you who like to walk independently, we have introduced 18 new walks including a lovely linear walk from Competa to Los Pinos via Rio Torrox. Here you will find a good mix of terrain (mainly forest tracks with some scrambling over rough paths). The scenery is scenery breathtaking - pine forests and wide open spaces, tiny white villages, and a welcoming hostelry at the finish!
Happy Walking!

WINTER SUN BREAKS
As the nights get longer and the weather gets colder, why not join us at Walk Andalucia for a Winter Sun Break for only £395 including flights? Heidi Rowe (harowe@earthlink.net) joined us last year and she wrote: ?I think what you carved out is wonderful. The pace of the programme was very comfortable ? goals seemed to be relax, walk, dine well, enjoy your time and return home refreshed.
For me, all was accomplished. David & Gill you are two of the nicest hosts... generous, with information, your stuff, your time.. I cannot imagine one complaint. Many, many thanks again for a wonderful time. It was an ideal combination of relaxing outdoors, ?lite? exploration around Malaga, and meeting new people ? all friendly.
