Torrox
is a historic place. There was
a Roman colony on the coast as early as the 1st century. The town
was developed by the Moors from the 13th century, and has the typical
complex maze of streets and squares which give these 'White towns'
their great charm.
Nearby towns include Nerja,
which has many tourist facilities and fine beaches, and Frigiliana
which is a showplace White Town.

Torrox Pueblo has a range
of interesting shops, cafes, and bars. There is a very pleasant
swimming pool open during the summer. During the year there are
a number of festivals and events which are well worth seeing.
The countryside around Torrox
is typical of Andalusia. Those who like walking will find some interesting
routes to explore during the cooler months.
