"This is the third time we have holidayed with  you and your standards remain excellent.  You gave us interesting new walks which were fun and varied, a lovely house to stay in and the weather was glorious."

"We enjoyed walking through the mule tracks on river beds (much more natural than roads) with the wild herbs, flowers, lizards close by.  Loved spotting the different types of trees and bushes and flowers that we wouldn't be used to at home, eg olive, almond.  The accommodation was excellent.  Couldn't have asked for a nicer house with beter facilities.  Lved the area also and great to be able to walk down to the square for food if you don't feel like cooking yourself."

"We enjoyed it all - the organisation - the walks - the accommodation - the food at La Biznaga was extraordinary (how he manages to maintain such a choice in low season amazed us).  Last but certainly not least we have to thank John for his care in driving us to and from the start of our walk each day - always on time; always helpful; and always chatting full of useful and interesting information. He'd make the perfect walking companion!

"The programme was absolutely superb - challenging and rewarding.  The package of information and equipment were very impressive and the photographs on the direction sheets were particularly hellpful.  We can't think how this could be improved."

"Accommodation was fine.  We cooked breakfast every day and dinner twice.  We had all the necessary cooking equipment.  We enjoyed the food and the town but the walking was the best part and what we would come back for."

"Some wonderful memories, I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend"
Self guided walking tours in Andalucia reviewed by Valerie Huggins, April 2008

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Lots of lovely memories. Stopping for a picnic lunch in a pine forest, overlooking the Torrox valley, with views to the mountains, having seen no one else for hours. Warm sunshine, and just us and the sound of the birds - truly away from it all! The sense of achievement of getting to the top of the ridge having scrambled up the side of a gorge at Frigiliana, and seeing the wonderful view to the sea with the mountains behind us. A delicious tapas lunch in Nerja, after visiting the amazing caves. Each day was different, as each walk offered another perspective on that part of Spain, They were all well organised and the maps and photos meant that we could enjoy the walks and the scenery without worrying about getting lost!

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Make sure beforehand that you are used to walking in the countryside.
Discuss your itinerary fully by email and/or by phone before you depart, and then during your holiday by talking to the Armsteads. They are very helpful and will change things accordong to how you are feeling. We used our free day to do a photography course and Spanish cookery course, which added something extra special to our week.

3. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

It was excellent. Very well organised. The Armsteads were very welcoming and helpful throughout. We had a complete change of scene, thoroughly enjoyed the walking, which set us a challenge, but was not so strenuous that it took away the fun. Ideal weather, good accommodation.
