EL ACEBUCHAL |
| "El Acebuchal" is a small village located on the skirts of the Natural Park of the Mountain Range of Tejeda and Almijara. Pine Trees and rosemary are the two most common species in the area. The houses keep the atmosphere and charm of the old times: rustic style, streets covered in cobblestones surrounded by gardens and swimming pools. Artists, writers, poets and people who love living in peace and in contact with nature choose this place as their home. |

The Village of Acebuchal |
| The Iberians settled there about 1,000 BC. Then, some archaeological remains (coins mainly) show that the Romans and the Arabs lived there but the village started in modern times in the 17th century as a settlement for shepherds, lime and coal producers and muleteers who carried goods such as fruit, fish and vegetables between Torrox and Firigiliana. El Acebuchal was a sort of meeting point where men and animals could have a rest and something to eat and drink. |

Village Street |
| The place was the perfect refuge for the Maquis, the guerrillas that fought against the Guardia Civil during the Civil War, and the place was completely abandoned in 1949 when the Guardia Civil took control of the area. The inhabitants that had given shelter to the Maquis were punished and all of them, together with their families had to leave their houses and start again in Competa or Firigiliana. |

|
| Virtudes and Antonio, "El Zumbo" were two children who had to follow their parents into exile. But in 1998, they decided to return to their native town and start there again. In 2003, the neighbours created an association and the village was supplied with electricity. In 2005, after the streets were repaired Acebuchal was re-opened with a mass. |
